Everyone was once a newbie and can remember exactly what their first workout was and how they felt. They can remember the cold steel of the barbell in their hands, the clock ticking down 3…2…1 and their coach yelling GO! What ensued can best be described as a hectic, whirlwind of synchronized chaos followed by a euphoric calm. They might have laid on the ground, catching their breath, until finally, a smile spread on their face. After picking themselves off the ground, they went home and realized that they were CrossFit.
In time, some newbies become firebreathers. They can recall their Fran time or max overhead squat at a moments notice. These veterans of the box not only kick-ass but enjoy helping and teaching others who may still be learning their snatch or are having trouble with their kipping pull-up. They may be the first to finish the workout, but they are the last to stop cheering others on. They help others up, put everyone’s equipment back, and live the code. They are CrossFit.
No matter who you are–a newbie, a firebreather, or just dropping in–when you step into the box, you are CrossFit.
