April Athlete Spotlight: Rachael Field

Rachael is ultra consistent and is always willing to try new movements and push herself to new heights (literally with box jumps!). She does EXTRA mile runs simply because she wants to get better. Pretty much, she's a badass. Meet our April athlete to watch, Rachael Field!

How long have you been a member at Cave CrossFit?

8 months, 4days, and 10ish hours depending on if I can get out of work in the next 20 minutes! =)

How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?

I annoy all my co-workers by talking about CrossFit at least 2x a day. Since moving to LA (5 years ago) I have steadily incorporated working out into my daily routine so inevitably joining Crossfit was just the next logical step. I was pretty intimidated by it at first, but now am completely hooked and enjoy being part of the Cave community.

What is your athletic background?

Typical East Coast/Jewish - Golf, tennis, spinning, wake-boarding and mah jong.

Favorite WOD:

Anything with jump rope or kettlebell swings.

Favorite Lift/Movement:

Box Jump (when I make it)

Least Favorite WOD:

Anything with Burpee Box Jumps

Least Favorite Lift/Movement:

Overhead squat and/or burpees.

What are your proudest achievements?

It’s a combo really. The first time I completed a box jump without any assistance after 4 months of jumping from plates and when I ran a mile in just over 9 minutes thanks to my friend/life coach Allison Kirksey Lombardo.

Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit?

Running a mile in less than 9 minutes while staying conscious.

Any advice for someone thinking about trying CrossFit or someone who has just started?

Just try it! It’s hard and intimidating but just take it one step at a time until it isn’t quite so hard and intimidating. Also slow and steady wins the race (actually not in CrossFit) but it helps get me through the workouts which are called WODs (you'll learn that when you join!)
