How long have you been a member at Cave CrossFit?

1.5 years

How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?

I’ve increased my strength, endurance and overall fitness level. I’m not lifting super heavy or finishing first when compared to others, but I’m lifting more and finishing sooner than when I first started, and that tells me it’s making a difference! Not just referring to CrossFit in general, but Cave CrossFit is truly a family. I feel so much love and support in that place, with fitness and in friendships. I have people coaching me, cheering for me, (or yelling at me), encouraging me to go 110% in everything I do. If I slack off, I’m held accountable. I’m very blessed to have that.

What is your athletic background?

Growing up I played basketball, and attempted to play soccer and softball. I’ve done a variety…gym, aerobics classes, hiking, running, MMA, swimming, 1/2 marathon, triathlon.

Favorite WOD: Helen, and 1/2 Murph

Favorite Lift/Movement: I’ve actually grown to like burpees

Least Favorite WOD: Karen

Least Favorite Lift/Movement: wall balls

What are your proudest achievements?

Recently getting a #70 PR on OHS. I’ve been so afraid of OHS and just didn’t like them, period. But, I’ve been working on them, and I really feel stronger and in control of the movement now. Also, being able to RX a WOD. That tells me I’m getting stronger, and that’s going to start happening more often.

Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit?

Pull-ups!

Any advice for someone thinking about trying CrossFit or someone who has just started?

I’ve seen some poor coaching with CrossFit in other states/locations which can definitely contribute to injuries.

1) Make sure the coaches are as amazing as mine
